Melissa Mahoney is an actor, singer, and teaching artist based in New York City. She trained at the Atlantic Theater Company through NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and is now a member of Atlantic’s faculty. She is a founding member of The Joust Theatre Company, as well as a company member of the Off-Broadway theatre company Shakespeare in the Square.

Melissa loves to take on roles that are both physically and vocally demanding; from broad, physical comedy to gritty drama, she commits to her work fully and fearlessly. She has played title roles in three critically acclaimed productions at the Atlantic Theater Company ("with spunk to spare", says The New York Times of her performance in Critics’ Pick and Off Broadway Alliance Award Winner The Pirate La Dee Da), as well as at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Hudson Valley Shakespeare FestivalArs Nova, Dixon Place, The Bushwick Starr, and in theaters across the United States.  She is also a solo performer (Melissa Mahoney is a Robot) and a voice actor for the popular Night Vale Presents fictional podcast It Makes a Sound

Melissa works as a teaching artist and acting teacher at the Atlantic Acting School and throughout New York City for students of all ages.

In her spare time, she enjoys meditating, thrift shopping, overanalyzing Stanley Kubrick films, and expanding her (eclectic) musical horizons.

Melissa is a dream to work with. Whether she was performing for an audience of 200 or 4,000, she won hearts with her spunky charm. Her poise, quiet dignity, humility, and wisdom makes it easy to forget that she is still at the beginning of her career.
